Barack Obama ....... How Do You Pronounce That???

Barack's early childhood wasnt the best a child could have which could help him in winning this election. For an example when was two his parents got divorced and his mother had to raise him by herself. This is a reason why one of his policies is to make more goverment help to single parents and broken homes. Also when he was in 5th grade he was sent back to grandparents to live in honolulu hwaii because his mother couldnt afford to take care of him. This shows that he understands that its hard to take carer of a household and that the enconomy is apart of the problem. when When he was in high school he did during high school he used marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol. Doing those things implies that he is just an regular person who makes mistakes and he can understand what laws that need to be place to help others from making those same mistakes.

Barack's education is very important and has helped to become a successful man. After high school Barack went to Occidental College for two years in Los Angles, afterwards he went to Columbia University in New York City were he studied political science. This shows that we can put our faith in him to improve thhe education problems in america because he believes that education is a key part of life. His first year at Havard Law in 1988 he was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review because of his good grades and hard work, and in his second year he was elected the first black president of the reveiw. Showing that he is able to become the first in different possesions shows that he can handle the pressure that people give him and he is no stranger to working hard to achieve something of this magnitude.
In the Delaware senatoral history Joe Biden is the longest serving senator. This proposing that he has great knowledge of the old and current policies / laws of america . He has and can use this knowledge to help make better ones by using the mistake from the past. another example of why him holding this honors is that he knows how the senate works and how people vote. This can help when there is a need for more votes to pass a law that is important and how to make more effeicent use of the senate. his knowledge can help us create a better senate that can help make better laws and policies.

In Joe Biden's long political career he has tried to run for president two times. An example why this is good is that he has his own ideas and isn't just going off what Barack's opinions. This implies that he is able to think on his own and has is on platform, so if Barack dies in office he can take over and have his own bleifs that coensides with Obama's though. Another reason why him having the running experience is that he is fimailar with the attempts to vilify the democratic campagin. This is proposes that he knows how to positivly deal with the press and reduce the media's affect on the election, so the right candidate can be elected. his experience in running for president can help reduce the media' s negative affects on the eclection and shows that he has his own platform to work of off of.

John ?? Who???

John McCain military experience will be essential to helping him in office. In his ealiers years in the navy John McCain crashed his plane twice but didnt stop asking for missions. This can show that even through tough times he will still work hard and fight through the problems. Also when he was flying a bombing mission his plane crashed and he was left with broken limbs and taken as a prisoner of war while going through vicious torturing but still stayed loyal to his country. That implies when he makes a bad chioce that he can endure the harsh reality of the press and american people.
McCain's political experience will also be essential to help him as president. McCain has served on the senate since January 1987. this shows that he can use old soultions and problems to help us solve the new ones that we will face. He has also served as the navy liaison. this proposes the needs of the different militay services and what he can do to help them.

As a child Sarah Palin worked hard and became a leader in most activities that she participated in. Like when played basketball in high school she was the point guard and led her to team to win the state championship. This shows that she can be responsible to lead our country with her good leadership skills. Also as a child growing up she ran 5k and 10k races. This implies that she has the endurance to work through problems that may occur and are occurring in America. Sarah Palin’s hard work and leadership skills to lead our country.
Through her adult life Palin has been apart of local and state governments. In 1996 she started her first term of mayor of Wasilla and improved the city by moving corrupted officials out of high offices. Meaning that she will stand up for citizen’s rights and walk over them just because she has an important office. Also she is the first female governor of Alaska. This shows that she is not afraid to break down social walls that discriminate gender and race. Her small government experience shows that she can handle any government position that she may want.

Its Not My Opinion Its Theirs!!!!!!!!

Obama's Opinion

Abortion -Opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v Wade. Disagreed with Supreme Court ruling to uphold the "Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act." Did not cast a vote on Prohibiting Funds for Groups that Perform Abortions amendment in 2007.

Education - Advocates ensuring access to high-quality early childhood education programs and child care opportunities, recruit well-qualified and reward expert, accomplished teachers. Make science and math education a national priority. Reduce the high school dropout rate and empower parents to raise healthy and successful children by taking a greater role in their child's education at home and at school.

Economy - Would implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the level recommended by top scientists. Would make the United States a leader in the global effort to combat climate change by leading anew international global warming partnership. Would establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) to speed the introduction of low-carbon non-petroleum fuels.

Health care - Would create a national health insurance program for individuals who do not have employer-provided health care and who do not qualify for other existing federal programs. Does not mandate individual coverage for all Americans, but requires coverage for all children. Allows individuals below age 25 to be covered through their parents' plans.

Immigration - Supported Bush-backed immigration reform legislation, which would have increased funding and improved border security technology, improved enforcement of existing laws, and provided a legal path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants. Voted to authorize construction of a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Iraq War - Opposed use of military force in Iraq. In October 2002, when he was an Illinois state senator, Obama said, "I know that invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East.

Economy - Supported the $700 billion Wall Street bailout package. On October 3, he said: "America is facing one of the greatest financial crises in history, and today's passage of an emergency rescue plan was absolutely necessary to prevent an economic catastrophe that could have cost millions of jobs and forced businesses across the country into bankruptcy."

Stem Cell Research - Advocates increased stem cell research. Opposes the creation of human embryos solely for research purposes. Campaign Web site states: "We owe it to the American public to explore the potential of stem cells to treat the millions of people suffering from debilitating and life-threatening diseases." Supported legislation during his tenure in the Illinois Senate that allowed embryonic stem cell research in that state. Opposes human cloning.

Death Penalty - Supports the death penalty for certain crimes
He worked in Illinois to change a system that had produced wrongful convictions.

McCain's Opinion

Abortion - Voted for the Prohibit Partial Birth Abortion bill in 2003 and "yes" for Prohibiting Funds for Groups that Perform Abortions amendment in 2007. Believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned. Supports Supreme Court ruling upholding the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.

Education - Stated during GOP primary debates: "We need more charter schools. We need vouchers where it's approved by the local, state school boards. We need to have, clearly, home schooling if people want that … We need to reward good teachers and find bad teachers another line of work."

Enviroment - Introduced the Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act of 2007 with Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT). The legislation is designed to significantly reduce the nation's greenhouse gases, accomplished through a combination of trading markets and the deployment of advanced technologies. Would propose use of alternative energy sources, including nuclear.
Opposes federally mandated universal coverage.

Health Care - Believes competition will improve the quality of health insurance. Supports health care tax dividends for low-income Americans, medical malpractice reform, improving electronic record-keeping, expanding health savings accounts, and encouraging small businesses to band together to negotiate lower rates with health care providers.

Immigration - Co-sponsored Bush-backed immigration reform legislation, which would have increased funding and improved border security technology, improved enforcement of existing laws, and provided a legal path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants. Voted to authorize construction of a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Iraq War - Voted in 2002 for use of military force in Iraq. Supported Bush veto of war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008. Was one of the earliest proponents of sending additional American troops to Iraq.

Economy - Supported the $700 billion Wall Street bailout package. "This rescue bill isn't perfect, and it is an outrage that it's even necessary, but we have to stop the damage to our economy done by corrupt and incompetent practices on Wall Street and in Washington. The action Congress took [on October 3] is a tourniquet. It is not a permanent solution.

Stem Cell Research - Supports federal funding for embryonic stem cell research on embryos that would otherwise be discarded. Opposes the creation of human embryos solely for research purposes. Opposes human cloning and any related experimentation.

Death Penalty - Supports expanding the federal death penalty
Would also limit appeals from it.

The Science of The Election ™

The Issuses

Environment - Most scientists believe that a rise in the Earth's temperatures is worsened by the effect of greenhouse gases. The debate centers on how much government should regulate industry and whether that will affect climate change or be an expensive boondoggle. Read the stances of the presidential candidates below.

Energy - While each candidate agrees that the United States depends far too much on imported oil and gas, opinion varies on how to lessen the burden and how to promote research and development of other energy sources. Read the stances of the presidential candidates below.

Barack Obama

Global Warming - Would implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the level recommended by top scientists. Would make the United States a leader in the global effort to combat climate change by leading anew international global warming partnership. Would establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) to speed the introduction of low-carbon non-petroleum fuels. Would create a Technology Transfer program within the Department of Energy dedicated to exporting climate-friendly technologies to developing countries. Would offer incentives to maintain forests globally and manage them sustainably. Would develop domestic incentives that reward forest owners, farmers and ranchers when they plant trees, restore grasslands or undertake farming practices that capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Offshore Drilling - Previously was against lifting federal government restrictions on offshore drilling, but appeared to modify his position in an August 1 statement that supported a bipartisan legislative effort that would expand offshore oil drilling. Part of the statement read: "I remain skeptical that new offshore drilling will bring down gas prices in the short-term or significantly reduce our oil dependence in the long-term, though I do welcome the establishment of a process that will allow us to make future drilling decisions based on science and fact."

John McCain

Global Warming - Introduced the Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act of 2007 with Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT). The legislation is designed to significantly reduce the nation's greenhouse gases, accomplished through a combination of trading markets and the deployment of advanced technologies. Would propose use of alternative energy sources, including nuclear.

Offshore Drilling - Believes the federal government should lift restrictions on offshore drilling and provide incentives to states permitting offshore exploration. McCain said he opposed lifting such restrictions during his 2000 presidential campaign run. Against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

My Beliefs

Global Warming – I believe that we should have restrictions on the companies who admit any green house gases. I also believe as citizens of this great nation we should all do our share to lower the level of green house gases because this is a problem that anyone can fix with out the government forcing or making laws telling them to do so.

Offshore Drilling – I believe that off shore drilling is a way that we can make our own fuel but it won’t be a lasting resource. I think that the government should spend more money in alternative energy because is more renewable and have a lesser effect on the environment it self.

The Technicalities of The Election

My Peer Technology Discussion Summary

From dialoguing with my peers I have concluded through the differences in candidate preference that the candidate’s views are particular to their party. For an example after reading Obama’s opinion and what my peers have said he offers a safer security while opening the horizon for more communication. This shows how the democratic party believes in communicating with other countries and how Obama is taking this idea to the internet. Another example is how John McCain plans only leaving the internet and technology out of his agenda if he wins and leaving it the same. This implies that he is staying loyal to his party and leaving things the same and yielding to tradition.

Mission Statements

Barack Obama
My mission is to bring change to America by leading the new generation in political will. In this change I plan to fix our economic failure by cutting taxes for poor and middle class citizens and eliminating taxes for main street business. Also I will bring the new generation in by providing safe and secure internet access to all parts of the world erasing all communication walls between America and other parts of the world.

John McCain
My Mission is to change the government in a proactive manner. I strive to protect the basic rights of all human life and their civic rights stated in the constitution. I also strive to create jobs to restart our economy through pro growth. I will work towards research in new technologies that will enhance the America lifestyle. Lastly I will protect American citizens by creating peace in countries fueled by terrorism.

A Piece of The Puzzle - Florida

Why Florida???

I’m choosing the state of Florida because of its election problems in the past. For example in the past election the ballots were unreadable because of the heavy senior citizen population made questionable marks which led to George Bush winning the state by default making him the President. Another reason why I’m choosing this state is its indecisiveness in this current election. Even though it has been a republican state in the past, analyst are having a hard time predicting which party will win it.
